Cool Font hacks for the Kindle 2, Kindle International and Kindle DX (Compiled List)

I noticed that the Kindle fonts hacks have been, more or less, distributed all over the place. There are many hacks (for all three devices) contained within the Kindle International hack page, others in the general hack page, etc.

So, I thought it would be good to created a thread specifically dedicated to custom font hacks, that work on all three devices. Here are some, please feel free to post your own, and your feedback. As always, screenshots are appreciated.

All links below are for all three devices, running 2.3, signed so no pre-jailbreak is needed:

Georgia - https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...9&postcount=41

Georgia 2 - https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...7&postcount=61

Helvetica - https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...5&postcount=73

Droid Sans (full formatting) - https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...1&postcount=57

Droid (only sans serif regular, but Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese and a bunch of other languages are supported) - http://blogkindle.com/2009/11/unicod...for-kindle-2-3

GNU FreeFont (All font styles are preserved, but these fonts only support Latin and Cyrillic characters) - http://blogkindle.com/2009/11/unicod...for-kindle-2-3

Droid (full formatting, but only Latin characters) - http://blogkindle.com/2009/11/unicod...for-kindle-2-3

Enjoy!
I think the Helvetica you made from the set I sent you (from Ted. I. by the way) is actually just plain Helvetica and not the slightly enlarged version he called "Helvetica2". And just to spice things up, here's Ted's HelveticaBL (bold/large) set.

You might want to rename the Helvetica2 here, to alleviate confusion.

Thanks much.

Hey folks,

Just wanted to drop a note that I am in the process of converting my entire font set (from kDesignWorks) over to the three platforms so that they'll work on v2.3 firmware.

If all goes well, I should have all of them converted and posted in the next couple days.

Cheers,
Ted-san

Ok, I've converted all the fonts and made packages for all three Kindle versions. You can find them all here

https://sites.google.com/a/etccreati...kindlev23fonts

I've tested the straight, K2 versions. But I don't have a K2i or DX, so I have no idea if those versions work.

Wow, that was the fastest "couple of days" I've ever seen.

Impressive effort (as usual). Can't wait to test out the DX fonts when I get home this evening.

Thanks so much for converting all those fonts, Ted, it is very much appreciated. If you find the time, could you possibly do just one more - until the 2.3 update, I was using (and loving) Lucida-Sans Demibold, and I can't find it in the list of updated fonts. If not, I'll just be happy with Helvetica 2, thanks again for the conversions!

I've tested them on my DX and they work beautifully. Thanks again.

Screenshots are included for some of the BIN's I created (first post in this thread). That being said, it would be nice to have screens for all

No, unfortunately the font hack won't have an effect on a PDF file. Think of a PDF as a "picture" of a page. You can't increase the font or change it in any way.
