Disk Crash Disabled 'send to' feature

After having to reinstall Windows and all of our programs, including Calibre, the 'send to' email feature no longer works. I have tried the several remedies mentioned in the many posts on this issue, including turning off the firewall and anti-virus, but have not found the solutionn.. I get the following error when I click on 'email to':

You should ask a mod to move this to the Calibre Forum for better results.

Are you sure you have fully configured the eMail settings (Preferences / Sharing books by eMail); setting the correct values for eMail server (and of course clicking the Test eMail button to ensure it works).

Also, strictly speaking, the Disk Crash did not cause the issue; it's the re-installation of calibre caused the problem.

That's a timeout trying to connect to your SMTP server. Make sure the settings are correct.

Going by what I see in the quoted section, you are attempting to send a .mobi file which is no longer accepted by Amazon as a valid Send to Kindle format.

After double-checking all settings, we did find a 'recommended' setting which we have changed, but our email, generally works with either setting, but not sending from Calibre.

If the settings are correct then the next likely cause is some program interfering typically security/firewall/antivirus type programs, easiest way to check that is reboot into safe mode with networking.

Have you actually tried the Test button on the configure email screen or are you just sending a book?

Under formats the only format listed should be epub.

I also recommend using GMX as a email relay.
From the calibre FAQ

Quote:

Note

Microsoft/GMX can disable your account if you use it to send large amounts of email. So, when using these services to send mail calibre automatically restricts itself to sending one book every five minutes. If you don’t mind risking your account being blocked you can reduce this wait interval by going to Preferences → Advanced → Tweaks in calibre.
https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...-using-calibre

From your prior posts you have this setting set to 1 second, please note that Amazon will ban you for an unknown period of time if you use this setting to much, I recommending setting it back to fime minutes.

This is what a successful email using GMX for a relay should look like.
