Kobo Libra 2 - How to go back and forth in a book?
A book I'm reading has a map near the front and a list of characters near the back.
How can I take a quick look at the map, and then come back to where I was reading? On the kindle there is a "go to" where one can enter a page number or location. But how is it done on the Kobo? |

And you can come back simply by tapping "Back to page xxx".

The patch for increasing the number of dots on the navigation bar is very helpful for situations like these. You can just tap the dot to jump to a frequently used spot.

Download the zip file for the firmware that your device uses (filenames match firmware builds). There's a readme in the zip file that gives basic instructions for use. You'll probably also want to download a copy of the relevant firmware from https://pgaskin.net/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html There's also a relevant thread in this forum, but I can't immediately find it. |

Well I circumvent by opening the book in the Calibre viewer and then print a screenshot on paper by the map. Much more convenient than going back and forth in the ebook.

Yes, this is a major drawback of e-books over printed ones. This and the fact that graphic rendition is not very good on e-ink screens are the reasons why I still buy print versions of many books (primarily non-fiction).

For non-fiction books, I convert them to Kepub format, to enable the preview/windows pop-up for footnotes. So I don't have to go back and forth to read the footnotes in the book.

Whilst I have some interest in subject that don't rely on images (e.g., law, politics) my primary non-fiction interests are scientific (e.g., physics, geology). |

(And please don't suggest a colour device. I've tried colour e-ink, and it still suffers from dreadful contrast and muted colours. Emitted light screens are unacceptable to me for other reasons.) |
