Thumbs up If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself ...

Sir Terry Pratchett creates a sword with meteorites

Quote:
ENGLISH fantasy author Sir Terry Pratchett says he was so excited after being knighted by the Queen that he decided to make his own sword to equip himself for his new status.

It was not enough, however, simply to find some metal and get a blacksmith to bash it into shape.

Pratchett, believing the sword would not truly be his own unless it was made from metal he had produced, found a field with deposits of iron ore near his home in Wiltshire, west of London.

He gathered the deposits and smelted the iron ore himself.
Classic Terry:

Quote:
"It annoys me that knights aren’t allowed to carry their swords. That would be knife crime."
Terry is an absolute legend. If anybody can Alzheimer's, it's him!

Hve you read his latest book, I shall wear Midnight? I think it's one of his best, if not the best. It's been available in Australia for a few days, but not yet in the US.

Does anyone know where I can buy a set of his Discworld books in epub format instead of the dreaded pdf? My library has gotten a couple in epub, so I am hoping they will be re-issuing all of them in epub (keeping fingers crossed).

I don't know about a set, but I've bought his books from http://readwithoutpaper.com/ which is an Australian store. Or you could check with http://inkmesh.com which I am sure will give you a range of places to look at.

I share you views about pdf.
