Marvin on iPad vs Kobo Glo

I am currently using Marvin in my iPhone and iPad, but I'm considering getting a Kobo Glo. Since I do not have a model to view or test, some advice would be great. In fact, I've never seen any eink readers up close before!

I really like the Marvin app and could not stand using Kobo in my Apple devices anymore due to it being sluggish and lack of options compared to the Marvin.
But how would the Kobo Glo fare compared to Marvin in features other than the eink screen and battery life, which is why I'm contemplating getting the Kobo Glo. My eye sight is getting from bad to worse and I suspect it could be because of my prolonged use of my iPhone and iPad. Or what other ereaders would you recommend that is comparable in features to Marvin. And are there any ereaders that has a text to speech option for regular epub files?

I understand it's not a comparison at par since Marvin is an app and Kobo Glo a device, but I need to make sure I spend the money on something that is better than Marvin on my iPad/iPhone.

Thanks!

The only mainstream ereader I know which does Text-to-speech is the older Kindle Touch. You can still get it refurbished.

The newer PWs and Voyage/KT2 had the audio stripped out since not a lot of people used it.
AFAIK no other mainstream reader ever offered it, it is possible some lesser-known readers have audio capability but I wouldn't know.

Two things eInk excel at is being able to be used in direct sunlight and much better battery life.

Even older, the Kindle Keyboard also does Text-to-speech. They can still be found in good condition.

True, there is the KK as well.
In fact, every pre-PW1 Kindle besides the Kindle Basic I believe had audio.
Although I doubt you will find many Original Kindles around...
