Calibre Not recognizing Kindle 3 on Windows 7
Hi all from GadgetGirlJerry
Have been using Calibre for years but am not able to on the new Windows 7 machine. I read the MobileForum post about Calibre not recognizing Kindle 3 on Windows 7 and tried following the directions. I am not sure where preferences is located to debug the device. I did find Preferences on Calibre and saw Advanced but there is nothing there about debugging the device so maybe I am in the wrong place. Help appreciated. I can see the Kindle in the Computer area but can't send books there from Calibre. https://www2.mobileread.com/i/smiliesadd1/help.gif Thanks. |

Here's what worked for me.
Exit from Calibre. Plug in K3 and wait. You should get a popup that say Win7 is finding a device driver, and then the pop-up that asks what you want to do will open. Make sure that there is not a check in the box that says "do this every time". Close that window. Using the triangle on the lower right of your taskbar (show hidden icons) choose the one for ejecting a device and then unplug your K3. Now start up Calibre (make sure you have a recent version). Plug in your K3 and wait. When the popup window asking what you want to do appears, close the window with the X in the upper right corner. Give it a minute or so, and you should get a new "device" icon on your Calibre toolbar. Hope this helps cheers |

Good to have your new company, GGJ. Maybe yours is a question best asked in the Calibre-dedicated sub-forum here. Good luck and best wishes. Neil

Thanks, that worked for me. I also needed a new version of Calibre.
