Christmas Day!

New to MobileRead got my sony touch about 2 weeks ago currently reading Ben Hur from googles free book section I've been a big fan of the movie forever and now reading the book about 1/5 into it and I love it-both the book and the device, I did some web surfing and found m-edge covers ordered a light and cover awaiting delivery- I'm a gadget guy and had lost some of my zest for reading-so far so good I finished rereading call of the wild (not the greatest copy) but hey it was free and my passion for reading is reignited! Or is reigknighted? Using the dictionary function is hopefully going to also expand my intellect.
Anyway enough rambling- for now

Hi. New to the forum and just opened and installed my new PRS-600. Have a few hundred .doc files on an SD card from my palm and would like to open and read them on the ereader.

On the computer I can see the "Documents" folder containing all of my files, but can't figure out how to access them from the reader.

Also...per a friend's recommendation, I am using Caliber to organize my books but am having some difficulty figuring out how to set up individual folders and/or categories. I'm usually pretty tech-savvy, but today am having troubles. Happy to find this forum!

Welcome to MR!

The Sony does not read "Doc" files, but it may depend on the format. I personally don't know what a palm doc file is. It may need to be converted to a txt file or epub or something like that.

Thanks all for the welcome. Okay, I've converted my files to RTF, but now my issue is this: On the Mac the files appear as written (in Times or Times New Roman) and even appear that way in the Calibre viewer.

On the eReader they convert to a san serif font, which is much more difficult to read.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much.

For this I think you have to edit the files or hack the Sony fonts. I'm no expert on that. Maybe someone else can help. Ebook readers are not really optimized for text type files, but more for epub, mobi, etc.

You might ask you question over in the Sony 600 subforum.
