How to clear custom date field?

I have a custom date column which is filled by KoboUtilities. I accidentally clicked on the date and it filled in today's date. How do I clear it?

A much earlier thread suggested changing the year to 0000 to clear it, but that doesn't work. How do I return that column to blank?

This is the easiest.
But you can do it from the Metadata Editor by using the recycle icon next to the field. FWIW The Icon is also available in BULK MODE of the MDE
