KS keeps changing back to default font family
So I just got a Kindle Scribe, but found it did not kepp my last used custom font for the ebooks. As a result, I have to re-apply my font each time.
For example, I installed a 3rd party font Goudy Bookletter 1911. After applying it to a book and reopening the book, the font turns to Bookerly. So I have to re-set it to Goudy Bookletter 1911 each time I open an ebook. This is not the case for my Paperwhite though. Anyone knows if this is expected for KS, or do I have a defective device? Thanks, Yi Last edited by iyner629; 11-20-2023 at 02:39 PM. |

Even though I save the theme, the font family in the theme would be overwritten by Bookerly (or other Kindle fonts) after exiting the book.
So the theme does not retain my own font. |

It seems it only happens for KFX format books.
For example, if I sideload azw3 books, it all works well. |

Another weird observation is:
most of the time I cannot copy/paste from windows PC to KS, while it works smoothly on mac book. So copy/paste works intermittently with my Windows PC. Did not figure out why. |

Replacing the kindle scribe seems fixed the issue.
I would say my previous one is defective. |

I'm getting this issue too. Other than this, I've only seen one or two other posts where people had this issue. I reset my kindle with no luck, nothing that I can think of would be any different than others... I'm baffled. I tried quite a few fonts, they work fine. Yet when I open the book again, it defaults back. Sometimes it opens in the correct font, but reverts back to bookerly once the little sticky note menu appears.

Did anyone find a fix for this? Should I ask for a refund for my Scribe? Just got it yesterday and this is a real issue for me!

Before I sold my Scribe, this happened repeatedly to me on AZW3 Calibre side-loaded e-books. All purchased from Amazon. One of the several reasons, including the sudden erasing of my books, I decided to sell it. Reopening a book almost always reverted to Bookerly. Got tired of it.

I do not side load much of anything except for experimentation but I don't know if that is a factor. I do have a Theme set using the custom font, but only to restore orientation after reading manga with facing pages, or accidentally change size with pinch zoom. I only have one custom font on each, chosen more or less arbitrarily: I do not have a 'favorite'. Yet as @jlinear attests there does not seem to be a remedy. I could easily stop using custom fonts, so it would not be a deal breaker for me: Scribe is fantastic. |

It's also an issue on the PW5. I set a custom font to use and when I open a newly side-loaded eBook, it defaults to a sans-serif font even though the correct font name shows. I can sort it by opening the eBook, selecting a different font and then back to the font wanted.
