text cut off

rarely in some pages a line of text is cut off. i have attached two consecutive pages where it happens, on the bottom in the first and on the top in the next. i've tried changing the margins but that just pushes the text away from the edges while still cutting it off. i've tried to enable and disable "reclaim bar height from bottom margin" but that makes it worse since it now happens on the top and bottom on almost every page.

the file is an epub and the device is a boox leaf. the view mode is set to page, not continuous. i'm not sure what else to try. if someone knows how to fix this, please help me thanks

Weird font metrics? Strange margins/padding? (try the style tweaks that murders margins).

Does it happen on the same book on your Kobo?

What does the actual code look like? (Might require a scrambled copy to repro).

Just adjust the bottom margin. It's too small and then the stuff at the bottom is sitting on top of the last line.

i've tried all the margin-related style tweaks and none helped
i can't try it on the kobo unfortunately as i lent it to someone else. i'm not sure how to look at the code. it's an epub purchased from the kobo store if i recall correctly

it could be something like that. i don't remember this happening before the latest boox firmware update (3.5)
since this update, another thing happens in koreader. sometimes a black bar will appear at the bottom, where the navigation bar is when it's not hidden which it does automatically with no apparent way to set to always show. this black bar stays there until the next device restart. i don't know how to make it appear, seems random

adjusting the margin has no effect other than making it cut off earlier as you can see on the attached image.

managed to get a screenshot of the black bar appearing at the bottom. the bar itself doesn't bother me and goes away after a restart. but just in case it's related

edit: to make it readable i was able to set view mode to continuous and set a page overlap of 1 line. it's not as good but works for being able to read the cut-off line

it looks like you're running an outdated version.

Please make sure you're able to reproduce on last release or last nightly

im running 202401. i cant run version that goes like 202401 with a 10 at the end because it crashes on launch with an empty crash report, i had to uninstall and install 202401

and the issue with the cut off text still happens in 202401, its not visible in this screenshot because i enabled continuous mode

useful workaround suggested on github:
Quote:
table.table1, table.table1 tr, table.table1 td { display: block }
unfortunately this murders the formatting of this particular book so i will just use continuous mode for now i think

Why is it in a table? It doesn't need to be. I suggest editing the ePub to remove the table. Might as well fix the margins while you're at it as the L/R margins are huge.

i find it much easier to follow with the table formatting so i'd rather not even if i could. and i have no issue with the side margins, they look wide in the screenshots because i only screenshotted the table but outside the table they are narrower as you can see in this attachment of the page where the table starts. i was only really looking for help regarding the issue of the text being cut in the middle

Instead of a table, use a <blockquote>. You will get the same effect without the hassle.

thank you, i just tried it. i'm not sure if i did it correctly, i just did a find and replace all for <table into <blockquote and </table into </blockquote. is that enough or would i have to also change the <td> and <tr> elements?

just changing tables into blockquote seems to have not changed anything as the text still gets cut off.
