G:RSS: Optimized Google Reader (RSS) for the Nook [BETA Testers needed]
[EDIT]
BETA testing is complete, and the application is live: http://nowsci.com/grss-web/ [/EDIT] Hi all, { NOTE: This does not require modification to the Nook. It is a Web-app will run in the standard Nook Web Browser. } For those who may have crossed my other thread, I've been working on porting over my Windows Phone 7 app, G:RSS (http://nowsci.com/techviews/20100612...s-phone-7-wp7/), to the Web for use on eReaders, such as the Nook. The Nook is going to be the first one out of the gate, followed shortly by the Kindle, and I've pretty much finished up all the code and display. That being said, I'm in need of testers, especially since I've done all this development using an Android emulator and a few trips to B&N to test from their store Below are some screenshots which pretty much tell the story, and here is the feature list:
I'll open it up to a few testers first to get the kinks worked out before releasing to the public. If you come across this after I've locked it down for testers, you can watch for the release on:
So, if you want to be a BETA tester, please respond to this thread. No PMs Please. Thanks, Ben Last edited by Fmstrat; 10-08-2010 at 05:10 PM. |

I'm on a trip but I will probably want to try this when I get home. Just a quick question: does trying this require a softroot?
It looks terrific and well integrated into the existing framework. Way to go. |

I'll let everyone know shortly via this thread and PM when I open it up for testing. Some maintenance is being done at my hosting provider (I'm being moved to another node), and I don't want things to operate oddly because of that during the test phase. Thanks, Ben |

Hello,
Program works quite well. A years better than Calibre RSS agregator. I'd like to share some suggestions. 1. Unread items are marked with a line infront of them - I think it will be better to have uneread ones Bold and read ones with Normal as they are seen in google reader itslef. 2. Selecting "Mark all items read" or "Back to feeds" on a feed that is in "Folder" of feeds - reloads Root page instead of loading "folder" that was feed we red before. 3. Open feed. Open next page with older items. Open random item. Selecting "Back to Items" returns in the first page of items. Expected to return on page that last item was opened was. 4. Open in browser - doesn't seems to do anything. page justs stays as it was. May be this is not yet implemented 5. RSS item that fail to load On some of items in this feed are loaded only headlines. No item text is shown. Feed: http://www.netinfo.bg/ni_gennews.php?p=2&c=10&last=1 Example item: http://www.vesti.bg/index.phtml?tid=40&oid=3271191 |

Exactly the type of feedback I'm looking for. For actual responses, I'll post up what I'm going to update next week. I'm traveling all this week, so won't have much time to respond/update until next week. Thanks, Ben |

Thanks for making this. I tried it an really like the way it integrates into the existing framework.
I did notice one bug, I think. I can;t get articles to open in browser. Am I missing something? |

This looks really good! As the others said, the Open in Browser does not work. All the other functions working so far.
