TOC question re Mobipocket file from ePub via Calibre

Hi

I have a valid ePub file which includes a toc.ncx but does not have a separate XHTML or HTML file that duplicates the contents in the actual flow of the book.

I've converted the ePub to Mobipocket via Calibre and put the converted file onto the Kindle. The TOC works fine via the Kindle's menu, but it also appears right at the end of the book itself.

Is there anyway within Calibre to...
- Either keep the toc.ncx, but not display it at the end of t he book on Kindle (only when accessed via the menu button)
- Or keep the toc.ncx, but change the display of the contents within the book to a specific position (i.e. after the prelims and before the main body of text, rather than plonked at the end).

Or am I correct to suspect that the only way to achieve the second option above would be to duplicate the contents, having both the .ncx file and an XHTML version of the contents?

As I have a large number of books to do, I really want to be able to convert my ePubs without extra fiddling!

Thanks very much
Michael
