Free (Kindle) The Other Cisco Kid by S. J. Bounds [New Marshal Coming of Age Western]
The Other Cisco Kid by the late English author S. J. Bounds (ISFDB, Wikipedia, SFE) is his standalone western historical action adventure novel, this one the coming-of-age tale of a young man finding out that living the life of his boyhood adventure heroes isn't quite so easy, as he becomes a marshal dealing with crises of his own, including figuring out the culprits behind a robbery and protecting the obligatory love interest from an enemy's revenge plans, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint.
This was originally published in 2003 by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line using the pseudonym Sam Foster. Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and pretty much everywhere else Amazon sells worldwide, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive-or-else program) Description The hard life of a hero… Billy Baxter longed to be like the heroes he read about in his dime-novels, and set out looking for an adventure to call his own. It wasn’t long before he met the notorious Cisco Kid, became marshal of Prospect and fell in love with Val Neilson to boot! But things were not looking so easy for Billy when he had to face down a cattle baron and work out who robbed the local bank. Not to mention fending off the endless string of bounty hunters, intent on trying to collect the ever-increasing price on Cisco’s head. He soon realised that there was a lot more to being marshal than he first thought. Is it a case of too much too soon for young Billy? To make matters worse, Carl Mueller was lurking in the shadows, biding his time. Mueller was holding onto a deep grudge of his own and was hell set on taking his revenge. But his plan involves using Val as bait and it’s not long before she finds herself in mortal danger. Baxter must grow up fast. He needs to work out Mueller’s plan and act quickly to save Val and be with the woman he loves. Will he get to her on time and become the hero he aspires to be? Or will his story end in tears…? |

Cisco Kid stood at the bar when the stranger approached the bartender.
"Gimme a milk, 2%," the stranger said, as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. Cisco Kid turned to the stranger and said, "Howdy, stranger. My name's Cisco Kid." The stranger stood tall at the bar and drank his milk and then said, "My name's Cisco Kid, too." Cisco Kid and the other Cisco Kid shook hands, one hand from Cisco Kid, in addition to the other hand from the other Cisco Kid, which would make two hands if anyone's counting. --- Got it. THANK YOU!
