Too many books inside 505?
I like the idea of having more than 3600 books inside my sony prs-505.
The problem starts when after a while reading a book if I try to see another one it shows me the same last page I was reading of the first book...!!! also changing the index of other books showing they only have 1 page!.... Too many books?. The battery is fully charger. I use calibre to load and it's perfect. Anyone with the same problem? any solution?...besides loading it only with fewer book? thanks |

The only solution I've found is to load fewer books.

Check out this thread for a sort-of solution.
Sony really should have implemented folder-based file management and not this idiotic database system which tries to rebuild the DB on every disconnect. Please don't anyone tell me that "50-1000 books are enough on your reader", that is your opinion, I do not share it. What is the point of supporting SDHC and 8 GB MS if you can't use it fully? /rant mode off Anyway, as a workaround I've switched to using a couple of old SD/MS cards I had lying around and loading each with a set of books. |

I, too, like a large number of books on my Reader. I've found, though, that using an SD card causes a lot of reboots and other errors (like losing the Collection tags).

I gave up on Collections. I load books onto my Reader from three different computers, one of which doesn't have Calibre installed. (I can sort-of run it portably on my flash drive, but it's troublesome that way.)
I sort the books in folders that I can only see when I'm connected to a computer, and just deal with scrolling through the lists to find the ones I want. Since I have a lot of homemade PDFs, I often put a prefix in the title metadata to group them when I'm sorting by title. I'm considering switching to the Aztak Pocket reader to get folder support. (Only considering, 'cos that's a lot of money to invest in replacing a device that's working very well for me now. I expected to get 2-3 years out of my Sony Reader; right now I've got less than 1 year with it.) |
