"insert special character" in editor
Some of the special characters do not show up in the list. I suspect them to be extended ASCII or unicode but am not sure. Can anyone tell me how to make them appear? I am using Ubuntu 18.04 gnome. Thank you, Best regards, Pop

I go to this page and copy the code for the one I need and then paste it into the editor. Use the blue bar at the top of its page to change to different sections.

"insert special characters" in editor
In advance, thank you all for your help. Some of the items appear as a blank rectangle and others as completely blank. If you cursor over the position its correct numerical designation appears at the bottom. I enclose 2 screenshots. Best regards, Pop

Nevermind; Calibre on Windows has its own copy of those fonts. Kovid will know what to do. In the meantime check the Preferences for the editor and have it use Liberation; perhaps you changed it to something else.
I'm guessing that the font you're using is incomplete. I'm using Liberation and it shows those characters. Check and see if you can install the Liberation font package from Ubuntu. Otherwise manually install them from downloading from here: https://github.com/liberationfonts/l...fonts/releases Last edited by lumpynose; 08-27-2019 at 04:48 PM. |

Your system does not have the fonts needed to display them. I suggest installing some wide coverage fonts such as GNU unifont, symbola, Noto, etc.
