Kindle Paperwhite 5.16.10.0.1 is out (plus a question)
Apparantly it has:
"Your Lists update: Your Reading Lists is now Your Lists. Your Lists now shows your saved books from your Amazon lists. To find your samples, use the Samples filter in your Library." To be honest, I get the updates but I have pretty simple requirements: read the book I just copied onto the kindle, or search for the title then click. I couldn't tell you it was different to before. What I thought was odd though was that I did the OTA update, which involves a reboot as always, then it came back up. I turned on airplane mode (to save battery) and read for a bit, then left it to do something else. But it was on the table next to my laptop and I noticed that as soon as the screensaver kicked in it immediately did another reboot. I can't think why, nor what would have triggered it. Does this update require two reboots? It grabbed a message from the server just before I turned off wifi? Anyone else seen this before? Last edited by davedeacon; Yesterday at 02:42 PM. |

My kindle 2022 got updated. I didn't see anything new but since then I can't see the chapter reading progress (it's not available for side loaded books since the update)

If reports about excessive battery drainage are also true, then this is the point where I disconnect my Kindle from internet forever.

I fully charged my Kindle last Sunday night because I had a trip last Monday. I wasn't even reading heavily but I checked my battery earlier and it was already at 17%.
Edit/Update: I unplugged my Kindle from its charger at 12:30pm and the battery was at 94%, now at 10:32pm, after reading for about 1.5 hours (that's being generous) the battery is down to 81%. This is probably the worst my battery has performed. Last edited by hleo12; Today at 10:34 AM. |

I have the latest PW and Basic Kindles and I am not seeing any changes after the update at all. No battery issues either

Two of my Kindles that got OTA update restarted shortly after I checked and saw they were running 5.16.10.0.1. I don't know what that means, as I usually update manually but in this case there didn't seem to be any reason to. Another Kindle that got OTA could have restarted too for all I know.
@jhowell reviewed the firmware for other changes; one had to do with a new implementation of sync db, the other a new 'underline' annotation type (IIRC). |
