Canadian perspective of the recent Sony ebook readers - PRS-300/PRS-600/PRS-2121

More E-Book Readers Available in Toronto, but the Best Ones are MIA

Nice write-up about the Canadian launch (Toronto and Montreal) of the new Sony ebook Readers, PRS-300 and PRS-600, however, the PRS-2121 (i.e. Daily Edition) will remain absent from the Canadian scene (perhaps even being skipped over until the next generation of Sony ebook readers).

On the same day that Sony held their (Toronto) ROM event, a similar launch was happening in Montreal, pushing the French versions of the Pocket and Touch editions, and partnerships with French book retailers. The company is obviously intent on capturing the high ground of the e-book battleground here, which will be far easier as long as the Kindle remains available only on Amazon's US website, and competing devices (Hanlin's EZ Reader, Bookeen's Cybook Opus, Samsung's Papyrus) are, as far as Canada is concerned, mere internet rumours.

I personally would like the opportunity to purchase the PRS-2121 and hope there will be some sort of deal awaiting Sony and some Canadian national cell service provider.

Nice catch Nick. This is the first time I've heard of the Daily Edition referred to as the PRS-2121. You have to get up early to catch the news.

Too bad it won't be available in Canada anytime soon. I hope they can make some sort of an agreement with a national cell phone provider.
