Do you finish reading every book you start reading?

Do you always finish every book you start?

Please explain why not if not. If maybe, also please explain.

I'm a grown up woman, and I don't have to finish anything unless I want to.

I finish every one. Why? Because if it's a good read, I want to enjoy it. And if it's a *BAD* read, I want to be very detailed and specific when I tell people just how *ROTTEN* the book is!

No. Because some books do not catch my interest and/or are simply not worth that much of my time.

Eventually. I can't think of any book that I have started and not gone back to finish. I have some now that are waiting to be finished, but I'm sure I'll get to them sooner rather than later.

Er...I wish I could say yes, my OCD side really wishes I could say Yes, but alas, I cannot. Some books are just too boring. My time is too precious to spend it reading a book that is boring me to death.

"Every" is a strong word. I finish almost every book, even if I'm not enjoying it. But there have been a few that I just couldn't take.

Why would anyone force themself to continue with a book if it turns out to be boring, disagreeable, offensive, trivial, unbelievable, irrelevant - or you just can't be bothered with it?

I finish a book I might not care for if I am not too far from the end. But sometimes, I'll continue with a book I'm not doing well with if it's said that it does get better. I know sometimes a book can be slow to start and in that case, sometimes it might be worth it to hang in there.

I've only put down 1 book and it was because I couldn't handle the content. I wish there was a warning label on it so I didn't have to spend the $10.

It's really rare not to finish a book, but it happened to me around 3 or 4 times in my whole life. And one of those books I intend to try again in the near future.

I choose careful what I read. Usually, when I pick up a book, I've already heard about it, read reviews, blogs, etc. So it's rare to really get disapointed/negatively surprised with a book.

I'm not saying all books I've read were great, but they were good enough to keep reading.

Anyway, I don't force myself to read a book I don't like or even hate, unless somehow I'm convinced I'll like the book if I preserve a little bit.

Exactly! I used to finish every book, until I hit 25, realized that books were being printed faster than I was reading them and probably would be for QUITE some time, and had an epiphany.

Life is too short for bad books :-D

I normally finish 99 44/100% of the books I read but about every fith blue moon I'll get ahold of a turkey so bad I'll chuck it about halfway through. The last one I gave up on was a Michael Crichton book two or three years ago. Normally, I love his stuff but in the one on his travels, he got so full of himself, about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way in, I just couldn't stomach it anymore.
