Cannot buy this series in ebook, only audio book?

Have been reading the Point Of Impact by kyla stone, but seems it's only available in audio format on kobo. Seeks don't have as many books as Amazon, so still locked into Amazon for this series.

I did remove the DRM and transfered my kindle books over, but to finish the series locked into needing it from Amazon and removing DRM with Calibra to send to Clara

If the books are in Kindle Unlimited, they'll be available only at Amazon.

Think the only thing I will keep my kindle for is it's serial number and buy from Amazon, and download drm free to my clara, so till I finish this series am still stuck with amazon

Seen this a couple times. As Sirtel mentioned, it's that pesky Kindle Unlimited exclusivity clause.

Several of Andre Norton's Witch World collections went on sale recently, and so I grabbed them. Then I decided I wanted to read the original (before starting the various spin-off cycles), but could only find it as an audiobook on Kobo. A quick search on Amazon showed why:

Kindle Unlimited strikes again!

Not all books on Kindle Unlimited are exclusive. There are some that are only on KU in the US but not the UK. Also, there are some books such as Harry Potter that are on KU but also available elsewhere.

There are some Orson Scott Card books that are on KU in the US but not in the Uk and they are not exclusive to Amazon.

Larger publishers can be not-exclusive if on KU. KDP users on KU are always exclusive.

IMHO, it's a farce and a scam.

The ebook can be purchased at Amazon for $5.99, if you don't have KU. That seems like a good price for three novels.

-----

I personally think KU is a pretty good deal - IF a person can read 3-5 KU ebooks in one month. AND IF a person is not intent on having them in one's calibre library.

Sure--and I did. My frustration was more the fact that you couldn't buy it on Kobo, which would have been my preference. I switch between a couple devices frequently (my Sage, which stays at the house, and my Clara HD, which comes with me to work) and I like to be able to sync progress, which I can't do with sideloaded books. Especially given that this is 3-books-in-one, so it would take me a couple weeks to read through them all.

Where did you get Point of Impact in ePub? Was it released in ePub and then moved to KU?

Except for bigger publishers, if a book is on Kindle Unlimited, it's exclusive and the author is forbidden to offer elsewhere.

That said, it may be still worth contacting the author - one contacted me after a few months telling me he'd pulled the KDP Select to offer the books as a Kickstarter benefit.

Many, but not all. Some may not work on eink Android, either due to customisation of Android, poor support for Chrome (Some need current Chrome) or due to being eink.
