X10 MID - For WinCE Lovers
Hey folks! I'm back. Sort of. Been a busy time at work for me this year. Still, I haven't stopped my #1 hobby - multifunction devices. I know there are a lot (and do I mean A LOT) of MIDs coming out now with Android as the OS. I can't help but notice there are some folks here on MobileRead who just aren't convinced Android is the best OS for this form factor (5" to 7"). To be honest, I'm not either. I'm getting a Pandigital Novel as soon as it comes out, but I'm also looking at this WinCE device:
X10 MID (WinCE 6) at Engadget As you all know, there isn't a whole lot of new software being developed these days for WinCE. Still, it seems we have good readers and comic book viewers available. Decent web browsers. Anyhow, I saw a few of these on eBay for sale. I'm wondering if DealExtreme or others are selling it? I remember seeing some Windows Mobile MIDs out there too. Now those seem to have disappeared. Oh well. I would have been interested... P.S. I wouldn't mind taking a stab at a new graphical design of the UI in the picture above. I'm guessing the UI itself is nearly the same one I had on my A81 with different graphics (ColdSun UI). Last edited by ColdSun; 06-02-2010 at 12:03 AM. |

This is what I get for being absent lately. Someone already posted this! My apologies. Feel free to delete at will.

Hey ColdSun,
On pandawill http://www.pandawill.com/X10-MID-Tab...MI_p36006.html it is selling for $180 with free shipping and battery is 3000mah it's better than I saw on ebay and personally I like this device it seems to have all I wanted (except 1024x600 screen ) but unknown manufacture scares me a lot and I still can not find in internet some reports from real persons . |

It does not have 3000 mAh battery, real capacity is twice as less.
User from another forum claims that is what pandawill guy told him about battery: Quote:

This device is known as both the X10 and as the Dawa D7. No difference whatsoever.
Perhaps the best and safest place to order is from the Canadian website, Merimobiles.com. Here's the link... http://www.merimobiles.com/Dawa_D7_M...p/meri0436.htm And the specs they list are probably among the most accurate. Please note the battery, it is not anywhere close to the 3000mah mentioned, but a very weak 1400 to 1500mah. This means in a real-world setting you'll get about two hours with wifi and three to four without it. One plus is it contains the latest Mali200 graphics processor!!!!! Here's some Mali quotes: "Mali processors have a novel rendering architecture that scales from the smallest of displays right up to HDTV resolution, while minimizing memory bandwidth and conserving battery life. "Mobile multimedia phones today rival the personal computers of ten years ago", says Ian Drew, Vice President, Segment Marketing, ARM. "Now, console-quality 3D graphics are transforming the mobile handset into a compelling gaming platform, and recent innovations are redefining the very way we interact with the UI". Well I just got my X10, quick impressions, good screen and tight build, not crazy about the interface on it, good as a GPS, and good for a reader so far. Really good media player.
