Little Tip for BT Keyboard Users Using Autocorrect
So awhile back Apple added autocorrect functionality for hardware keyboards to its operating systems. This can be helpful to have enabled, although of course sometimes you will type of word that it doesn't recognize. Fortunately they made it so that you can tap the Esc key to override autocorrect when necessary... unfortunately not all iOS keyboards have an Esc key (including the keyboard case for the iPad pros of all things). Until recently I thought the only option you had in this case was to reach up and tap the little X on the screen. However after playing around a bit, I discovered this little shortcut:
Cmd + . It turns out that this will do exactly the same thing as the Esc key on iOS devices*. I'm posting this because I could never find a solution myself when looking it up on Google, which leads me to think that this is very poorly documented. * bizarrely, this command has virtually the opposite effect on Mac OS; Confirming autocorrect rather than overriding it. Well darn, as of iOS 11 this shortcut now accepts the autocorrect rather than rejects. Which, okay, does make it consistent with MacOS, but means that there is no hardware method of dismissing autocorrect on a keyboard that lacks an Esc key. The only workaround I found is to tap the back and then forward keys.
