Question HELP Kindle stopped reponding...

My K3 Keyboard (B0006) stopped responding after connecting it to Calibre through USB.

I received it as a gift from my sister-in-law, who no longer used it.
I de-registered it from her account, but could not register it under my account... She was unable to provide account verification information because she had moved MANY times since purchasing it from a store. So according to Amazon it is essentially blacklisted.

After that fiasco, I manually loaded 19 books through USB from my computer.
I then used the instructions by NiLuJe to jailbreak it and load python. It worked for several days after that.

Wanting someway to track a library and control loading to the device, I downloaded and installed Calibre. I then pulled the books from the device to Calibre. Then it stopped working, "froze"
It is in screensaver mode, and is unresponssive to the power button to activate it.

Any ideas on what to do with it? Right now it is a paperweight.

Holding the button to force a restart does nothing.

, at it worked flawlessly for several days. I then connected to Calibre and pulled the books that I have previously ,

What does the amber/green light at the switch do when you try to charge?

I've seen the battery fail quite suddenly on two of these. The battery (really a cell) is easily replaced. The K3 won't start even on charger if the battery dies.

The registration for a K3 is possible, but you need a code via SMS or email. There is a thread on it here somewhere.
It might not be actually blacklisted.

Also originally the K3 did not support PDF, a FW update adds it.

The most likely thing is that it needs a replacement battery.

More info...

I updated the software first thing when I got it, after de-registering it, hoping that failure to register was due to out-dated firmware. (forgot to mention) it is running 3.4.3.

When charging, the light is yellow for a while, then green.
Normally the light is off. When I slide the switch, it turns green, then turns off.
The image from the screen saver remains. Nothing happens.

When I plug it into the computer (using USB), and turned on, it shows the data on the device. I can copy files to and from the device through windows. But then when I unplug, I can get to anything. The screensaver does not shut down. Nor is the screensaver updating the image. The image currently displayed is the same image that was on it when I installed Calibre.

Hold the power slide on for about 30s or more? Should reboot. A few times I've had to repeat that to get it to reboot.

I've done that a few times...
I hold the power switch for 30 seconds, then release and count off another 40 seconds.

The light goes on when I slide the switch.
At 7 seconds, it flashes once and goes off.
At 39 seconds (9 seconds after releasing) it comes back on.
At 61 seconds (32 seconds after releasing) it goes back off.

Documentation says that holding switch forces a reboot.
The same image is displayed, only now there are horizontal lines on lower left (artifacts form partial/failed refresh)

I repeated the experiment 3 times, waiting several minutes after cycle to attempt again.

No Joy.
