Oh well spotted! That's certainly a change from (all?) other Pocketbook devices isn't it?

The top left icon mentions Mobius, so hopefully it'll be a robust screen.

The external photos don't show an Era/InkPad 4-style cover attachment panel.

Just crossing fingers that Pocketbook finally move on from the Allwinner B288 dual core 1GHz CPUs..

This will be necessary with a Wacom screen.
With this Allwinner are Android and Notes not possible.

Certainly not.
These ancient components will soon no longer be available and the ancient kernel is certainly not capable of new components.
All of this is available for Android - apart from that, Pocketbook has an Android app that is far superior to the capabilities of the devices

Possibly they were hamstrung by the Allwinner SOC, which only officially supports Linux 3.10 and Android 4.4.

What can Android 12 etc. do more than 11?
And for 11 there are existing drivers

Old components are hardly available anymore and if you want new developments, then you have to take what is available.
And the Linux kernel adaptation is not particularly well suited to that.

So they're stuck with old Linux or old Android? I think my HD 3 is using Linux 3.0 and it works fine with plenty of features. Maybe the pen needed Android?

I think PocketBook has done a pretty good job with their "Linux tinkering." And if they're really restricted to Android 4.4 with their chosen CPU, isn't that going to be restrictive?
