Action Haggard, H. Rider: Haggard Anthology Vol 2. v7. 7th Sep 2010

This second volume of my H. Rider Haggard anthology contains Haggard's other well known work (the other being "King Solomon's Mines"); namely "She", and its three sequels. All are a mixture of adventure story and supernatural fantasy (as are many of Haggard's other books).

The books in this volume are:


1. She

One of the greatest works of fantasy adventure ever written, this book tells the story of the quest to find the mysterious and tormented immortal African queen, "She Who Must Be Obeyed".

Note that one of the chapters of this book contains a number of illustrations of fragments of ancient Greek text. I've done the best I can to reproduce these graphically, but they don't come out wonderfully on the Reader. They don't affect the story line at all. Sorry for any problems with this, for those lovers of ancient Greek!


2. Ayesha

The sequel to "She" - continuing the story told in the original book.


3. She and Allan

A prequel to "She", telling the story of Allan Quatermain's encounter with "She".


4. Wisdom's Daughter

The early life and loves of "She", telling the story of how Ayesha became transformed into the immortal "She".


In case you were wondering, these books are indeed the original source of the expression "She Who Must Be Obeyed" .

Completely re-created the book to improve the formatting and layout. Managed to find a source for some of the illustrations missing from the first version of "She". Uploaded v2.

I've finally been able to locate the correct Greek Unicode font to accurately transcribe (as graphics) the Greek textual fragments in "She". A minor point, but it's been bugging me ever since I first created this book! Uploaded v5.

Completely proof-read the first three books in the anthology against page scans, and fixed numerous errors, added missing accents, formatting, etc. I was unable to locate a page scan of "Wisdom's Daughter" - if anyone knows of one, or has a printed copy that they could lend me for a few weeks, I'd be very grateful. In the mean time, I've proof-read "Wisdom's Daughter" in isolation, and found and fixed a number of obvious errors. I've also replaced all the illustrations in "She" with new ones, and added several new ones, added 32 new illustrations to "Ayesha", and a frontispiece to "She and Allan". Uploaded v7.

There's a copy in Google Books, only with a partial preview, but you could use it at least for some pages (which could be many). You already knew that, of course

EDIT: That's great! There was really only one point in the PG Australia text where the OCR had obviously gone awry and I had to guess the right word. This preview shows that I guessed correctly .

Any chance you could update the TOC? There seems to be just one entry for some books, but for others there are complete chapters listed?
