Dealing with Imprints and Publisher Acquisitions
I was finding my library was getting a bit of a mess with publisher imprints and publishers acquired by other bigger publishers over the years.
I found the pen name discussion and that worked for pen names like I had been wanting to do. Anyway, I wondered if I could adapt it to publishers and it seems to work [initially I thought it wasn't, but realised I had a virtual library selected, oops!]. Like the Alias set up, it uses 3 custom columns: Parent Publisher (parent_publisher), Publisher Imprints (publisher_imprint)* and Publisher Imprint & Acquired Publishers (imprint_publisher). The templates are adapted appropriated replacing pen_names with imprint_publisher, real_names with parent_publisher and alias with publisher_imprint. Seems to work as I expect so far. Thanks to the original pen name contributors. * I hadn't realised I'd made two columns with very similar names, this one is just checking it exists before adding, like Alias does in the other thread. |
