Books disappear after reboot - kobo clara color

I have a brand new clara color that has given me no problems up until now.

Everytime I reboot it all my books disappear, even ones bought from the kobo store. I have a few mods like nickel menu and koreader, and I load books via caliber, ADE, and dropping epubs from file explorer. Books from the kobo store only load after repairing my account. Until I do that they appear unbought in the kobo store. Syncing doesn't work, and my pocket articles appear and disappear seemingly randomly.

The books are definitely on the kobo, they just don't show up. KoReader sees them no problem and they show up in file explorer. The only temporary fix I have so far is connecting it to my computer. When I eject it, it shows the importing content progress bar and they all show up again, even though it claims to have 0 books, and all my reading progress and annotations disappear.

Factory resetting would probably work, but I would like that to be a last resort. If any ones knows another fix, temporary or otherwise, I would really appreciate it.

Looks like your database is corrupt. Logging out of your account on the Kobo and logging back in again should rebuild the database and fix it, but you will lose your annotations and reading positions. If that doesn't help, a factory reset is probably the only option left.

Thank you! Logging out seemed to work. This may have been a problem with a config rule I made to not index hidden folders.

Welp looks like it only half worked. I had to change the config to exclude koreader files which in itself was tedious enough, but there's still some left-over junk in my bookshelf and now ADE books don't even show up, even when reimported and everything. And pocket has just given up.

Looks like a factory rest might be in order, though I hope there's some way to backup my koreader configs, ect.

No need for a factory reset. You just need to authorize again for ADE DRM.

You should use the Kobo Utilities plugin with calibre to backup your database and settings. That way if something goes wrong again, you can restore the database and settings.

You have to make sure you do a proper eject before pulling the USB cable.

I agree with Jon that in future use the Kobo Utilities to backup your database. This also saves a few other critical files includes the activation.xml file from the .adobe-digital-editions folder so you do not need to re-authorize.

I reauthorized ADE about 20 times, tried re-importing the books, and it wouldn't work at all. In fact I imported 3 DRM books and only one even showed up, but still threw the "not authorized error". I made a copy of my .adds folder and did a factory reset and now everything is working perfectly.

I will definitely look into that calibre plugin though.

Yes I will look into that. It seems very useful to someone playing around with unstable mods.
