How to mark a book as "read"?
What I'm trying to do is identify a book as read and be able to hide/unhide those books.
I added a "read" tag and thought the right click on tag and then hide would do it. Wrong! How do others do this? Any ideas? Regards - John |

Type this into search box:
tags:read Then type READ into the Saved Searches box to the right of the screen and click the green + symbol to save it. You now have a search. Go to the pull down on the far left of the screen and select READ and only books you have tagged as read will appear. To make read books disappear create another search with the word not in front of the tags (not tags:read)and save that as UNREAD. Hope that helps |

After clicking, look at the search box. You will see the search that calibre constructed. As Hitech_luddite pointed out, you can save either search as a saved search, making applying the search faster. If you make a saved search, then you can use the 'Restrict to' box to create a temporary virtual library of books matching a given saved search. For example, if you create a saved search for books without the "read" tag, then you can create a virtual library of books you have not read. The tags, authors, etc will adapt, showing you only those items in the virtual library. Searches work on the virtual library. Etc. |

Thanks guys. Both ways work for me.
Now one other question: How do you turn off the typing helper (auto fill or whatever)? That "feature" causes me nothing but grief. Thanks - John |
