Suggestion: Home/End buttons take you top top/down, not left/right
When browsing the list, when pressing END you end up on the right of a wide column instead of the natural bottom of the list. Please make this a norm in the behaviour.
Also, thanks once again Kovid for the continous updates. eBook management would have been hell without your amazing and outstanding work! Last edited by LWTBP; 07-20-2013 at 08:51 AM. |

End is the end of line for most programs
Home is the begininh of line. IMHO having it different is Right click the Vertical Slider |

Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End take you left/right.

Hi Kovid and theDucks,
Windows Explorer in [Details] view takes you to 'bottom' on END. Music players, and any other software that I have used that requires browsing through a list do the same. |

For lists where all or many of the cells in a row can be edited (so really datasheets, not lists), as in Calibre, the behaviour similar to Calibre is usual, END taking one to the last cell in the row being edited and CTL-END to the end of the last row (for example, in Tables in Datasheet View in MSAccess which END behaves similarly to Calibre). MSExcel is an exception that comes to mind as in that pressing END by itself does nothing insofar as moving between cells or rows, it being dedicated to toggling "End Mode" on and off (which affects the behaviour of the arrow keys allowing stepping to the next blank cell in the row or column rather than just to the next cell). Well,
What I suggested was just from the viewpoint of a common man and not some programming expert, based on the 'software for the masses' trend. However, if you want to continue it the way it is now, no problem, because Calibre is still awesome. ONLY problem is, the 'nerds' would know to alternate between CTRL and END/HOME but the regular person wouldn't. So, a regular person can't find the solution for an elite's problem, but an elite person can find his way in a regular person's problem (usually XD) so I suggest giving US the preference here. While use of editable datasheet presenting applications may not be familiar to you, I can assure you that they are to many, many other "common" men and women to whom the means of navigation within them is understood and found convenient for data editing. With practice you may come to find them so too. Just remember CTRL-END will take you to the bottom of the datasheet. If you don't want to use the keyboard then right clicking on the scroll bar and selecting "bottom" will do the same (this is also common to other datasheet presenting applications such as MSAccess, MSExcel). I hope this has been helpful. Last edited by AnotherCat; 07-21-2013 at 07:14 PM. |

Thanks for both the question and the answer of Ctrl+Home/Ctrl+End, as this has been driving me crazy for a while.
