Link to a book in library
I have a short story that the author has earlier published in a fanzine, and then an expanded version of the same story published in a novella format (with a different name) and I'd like to add links to the description so I could just jump to the other version - is this possible? And if not, what would be the best way of handling cases like this (preferably without custom columns - it doesn't feel efficient to have a custom column for such a specific purpose).

See "Open a book details window on a book in some library'" in The calibre:// URL scheme — calibre 7.17.0 documentation
You can get the link by right clicking empty space in the Book details panel, viz: I have a long text custom column in my libraries called Links/#links, which is where I put the link, viz: BR |

Thanks, by copying the link to display the book in library works nicely, as does copying a link directly to view a format. The link to display the book information doesn't quite work as I'd like, as the pop-up window you get isn't the same as you get when pressing I - it's missing any active link content and you can't open the book for reading from that window. But never mind, copying the link to a format and writing that in the description works pretty much as I was wishing for.

I often put show-book, book-details and view-book links to Book B into Book A's Link/#links column, and vice-versa into Book B's Link/#links column. In some cases multiple view-book links for different formats. BR |

I don't have all that many books I want to link, and it feels a bit more natural to have something like "... <link>expanded version</link> first published in ..." in the book's description rather than in a separate column - just a personal preference, I suppose.
