Hopefully it'll take ages to come to market since like a few others I've just shelled out for the Sony.
I'm seriously impressed they got colour working though. |

I saw the photos in http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/en/n...ok+reader.html
The first photo shows a japanese famous manga. The reflection of the first photo is a little obvious, but the second isn't. WHY? I am intereted in its release date toward the market. Last edited by segatang; 10-05-2006 at 04:20 AM. |

Is it just me, or does that rascal look back-lit to anyone else? Anybody know if it has/needs a back-light? |

On the first picture the device seems to be behind the glass, hence the reflection.
On the picture with the scale, it just lighting, not back-lit, imho. Since it's still A5 sized reader, I don't see any benifits, at least for me, to get it instead of Sony. |

AFAIK, it's still the same tech fujitsu was displaying in their flexible stuff. Cholesteric LCD, which still, is an LCD and therefore requires a backlight or to be made transflective.
Cheers! |

Screen size is very nice, but colors are not enough. At least not for reading comic-books, which is what the next generation of E-ink displays should aim to.
Well, the Sony Reader will do for a couple of years. Then, we shall see... |

Manga is 99% black-and-white, so that's more than enough for Japan.

vga 480x640? I don't believe it. The pics don't show that low resolution... I mean Sony Reader has 800x600 and 170 dpi... So this device have very low dpi? Barely readable? That's why it has only manga and no text on promo pics.
