Calibre fails with proxy after upgrade
Hi,
I've updated from 0.8.8 to 0.8.13 version and data fetch from internet stopped working. Calibre recognizes proxy correctly but fails to get response. I installed 0.8.8 again instead of 0.8.13 and all data fetching functions like RSS and book queries works like a charm. This behaviour is same for both portable and normal version of Calibre. Any idea? This was seen on an old machine running Win XP SP2 behind corporate proxy but as I mentioned 0.8.8 works fine. /John -------------------------------------------------------------- InputFormatPlugin: Recipe Input running Using proxies: {'ftp': 'proxy.x.y.com:8080', 'http': 'proxy.x.y.com:8080', 'https': 'proxy.x.y.com:8080'} Failed feed: Posts Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\web\feeds\news.py", line 1286, in parse_feeds File "site-packages\mechanize-0.2.4-py2.7.egg\mechanize\_mechanize.py", line 203, in open File "site-packages\mechanize-0.2.4-py2.7.egg\mechanize\_mechanize.py", line 230, in _mech_open File "site-packages\mechanize-0.2.4-py2.7.egg\mechanize\_opener.py", line 193, in open File "site-packages\mechanize-0.2.4-py2.7.egg\mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 344, in _open File "site-packages\mechanize-0.2.4-py2.7.egg\mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 332, in _call_chain File "site-packages\mechanize-0.2.4-py2.7.egg\mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 1142, in http_open File "site-packages\mechanize-0.2.4-py2.7.egg\mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 1118, in do_open URLError: <urlopen error [Errno 10060] A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond> Python function terminated unexpectedly No articles found, aborting (Error Code: 1) Traceback (most recent call last): File "site.py", line 132, in main File "site.py", line 109, in run_entry_point File "site-packages\calibre\utils\ipc\worker.py", line 181, in main File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\convert\gui_conversion.py", line 25, in gui_convert File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\conversion\plumber.py", line 937, in run File "site-packages\calibre\customize\conversion.py", line 204, in __call__ File "site-packages\calibre\web\feeds\input.py", line 105, in convert File "site-packages\calibre\web\feeds\news.py", line 737, in download File "site-packages\calibre\web\feeds\news.py", line 882, in build_index ValueError: No articles found, aborting -------------------------------------------------------------- |

Newer versions of calibre have support for https proxies. Apparently your https proxy is incorrectly configured. Remove it from your internet enplorer connection settings and you should be fine.

Confirmed. I've removed https config leaving it empty in IE Explorer and tested 0.8.13. Works flawlessly.
Thanks for fast reply and thank you for the Calibre ! |
