Possible Tweak to Edit Metadata Screen for Downloaded Metadata
I realize that you can go into the tools on the Metadata Screen - and choose what fields to download the metadata. This works wonderfully.
But two things - and I think it might be worth considering for user functionality and ease of use: Could a future update have a CHECKBOX next to fields on the main screen (not having to go into the tools menu) - that is CHECKED if that field will be updated with the downloaded data. And from that same top level screen - to be able to check or uncheck that box (again without having to go into the tools menu to set this "universally") - for that particular book alone - and thus say whether, at that moment for just that book, you want to change that condition. Thus allowing you to (1) SEE what has been set to be downloaded in the toolbox preferences universally; and (2) to CHANGE (temporarily) for that one particular book alone - that condition - for that metadata download. I think this would both be useful by being able to see what you are currently set to download and not ... if you change this periodically. And also to be able to do a QUICK change (that will not reset the "settings" for all others - but will make that change for that one book at that one time). |

Using Bulk Metadata Download (shortcut key is CTRL+D) you will get a dialog for each book that allows you to see what the current and downloaded metadata is, and there are arrows that let you choose the old metadata.

OOOH. Yes - I use that when I am getting it to insert the cover image - if it didn't - and have used that even on single books (the bulk - because that is where that appears). Although I only NOW (this past week) realized that that upper left book cover icon on the METADATA EDIT window - allows you to see several pages in the book - and pick one - individually. EVEN BETTER (particularly because I now know I can also get a page that's not the first one). So I'll likely be using that for the cover function.
But I had NEVER REALIZED that this would also be a way to CHOOSE from among the set on an individual book basis. I am going to give it a try. Thanks again. |
