Australian Poetry Slam '08 Grand Final

Just to let any poetry freaks know: the 2008 Australian Poetry Slam is on at 6:30 PM AEDT (GMT+11) today (it's about 12:15 AEDT, that's in 6 hrs 15 mins from time of posting this). You can watch the poetry slamming action live at www.abc.net.au/poetryslam.

Over the past three months close to 600 people have competed at events held across the country. More than 4,000 people have turned out to watch everyday Australians tell their stories in two-minutes or less. The 18 finalists will take to the stage at the Sydney Opera House tonight..

The National Final of the Australian Poetry Slam 2008 has sold out! But if you haven't grabbed yourself a ticket don't fret. The competition will be broadcast live on 702 ABC and webcast on www.abc.net.au/poetryslam.

Tune in as Australia’s top rappers, lyricists and verse hurlers mash words and rhythms for the coveted Slam title, $5000 and a gig at the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival . Also, check out these You Tube slam highlights.
