Export - Import
Hello,
I want to transfer around 300 books (not e-books) from another software into Caliber. The other software lets me export into text, html and xml. And here a couple of questions: 1. What is the best export format so Calibre import will happen seamlessly? 2. Could not find the import feature in Calibre, where it is please? 3. How to batch import into Calibre the 300 front cover images stored in the old software? any advice is welcome! :-) |

Not sure that calibre can Add from XML, but text and HTML are fine. Best way to find out which is best for you is to export a couple of books in each format from existing s/w, and then Add them to calibre. Calibre can also be used via the command line

HTML is probably best, because it preserves formatting, such as italics and bold. Text may or may not, depending upon whether it uses some kind of markdown that Calibre recognizes.
But BetterRed is right; export and import a couple of books first to see how they come over. |
