Grimshaw, Beatrice: The Valley of Never-Come-Back, 1923, v1, 4 Aug 2024

Beatric Grimshaw, 1870-1953, was an Irish woman who became a journalist in London, then a travel writer reporting from the south seas, and then a short story writer and novelist living near Port Moresby in Papua for nearly 30 years before retiring to a property outside Bathurst in New South Wales.

Always single, supporting herself with her pen, she became a best selling novelist in the between-the-wars years, most stories set in the South Seas and New Guinea area. She became quite prosperous, partner in a copra plantation and later a tobacco plantation in New Guinea with her brother.

This one of her short-story collections:

1: The Valley of Never-Come-Back
2: Lost Wings
3: The Island Grave
4: Isles of Peace
5: Under The Shwe-Dagon
6: The Woman In The Cage
7: Peak of The Moon
8: Something Lost
9: The Long, Long Day
