Findagroov™ Reviews The Songs Of... series by Tony Madison II

Hi everyone - I'm a relatively new author with an e-book series for the music lovers out there.

Findagroov™ Reviews The Songs Of... is a series which covers the music of Black artists from "back in the day" in the realms of classic soul and R&B, funk, jazz, disco, reggae, old school hip-hop, and related genres. The purpose of the books in the series is to provide detailed, essay-style discussions on each recorded song in the catalog of a given artist as well as songs which feature that artist.

All songs have a story to tell and, more times than not, when we listen to a song on the radio or on record or CD or mp3 or streaming, we're just grooving to the music without paying any real attention to the lyrics unless it's a message song which just happens to resonate. That's where my book series comes in, to give you some food for thought on the music by the artists.

Findagroov™ Reviews The Songs Of... George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, published 2019, was the first book in the series. It covers all the recorded songs circa 1955 to 2018 credited to The Parliaments, The Funkadelics, Parliament, Funkadelic, George Clinton, and P-Funk All Stars. If you are a funkateer or a hip-hop lover who follows P-Funk-sampled music, this one is for you.

Findagroov™ Reviews The Songs Of... Donna Summer, just published in August 2024, is the latest entry in the series. If you love the late Donna Summer and her many disco classics, you will want to learn about her music. This book covers her recorded material circa 1968 to her passing in 2012. Her music ran the gamut from off-Broadway to soul, funk, German rock, experimental, pop, country, rock, new wave, gospel, reggae, new jack swing, quiet storm and, of course, disco. Also covered in this entry in the series are live recordings, broadcast performances, and other rarities.
