British report takes aim at copyright "lobbynomics"

Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere.

Here is a Toronto Globe & Mail column on a British report criticizing the DEA for being based upon poor statistics and evidence submitted by lobbyists not subject to peer review.

Come on, where is the surprise? Mandelson was in charge of this. Mandelson and the terms "sleaze" and "corporate cronyism" are basically synonyms. The worst aspect is that the British are saddled with this piece of sleaze for its lifetime because of the House of Lords.

It's worse than he thinks. The part that takes away the right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise was actually written by the BPI, the UK version of the RIAA. How such an organisation got to write parts of UK law remains to be seen.
