Kobo Glo database hack?
Still using an old Kobo Glo here, because it works good enough.
One thing: I recently imported lots of ePub books from OceanofPDF and find that the internal database entries for these books contain numerous mistakes, for instance, author names aren't normalized - the same author name appears in several varieties which makes the 'authors' list pretty much unusable. I could edit each book entry manually maybe but I wonder if there is some software out there that I could use to correct the database entries. I used to work as a database programmer so my natural impulse would be to somehow extract the database on the Kobo Glo, import it into a PC based database management system, normalie the entries, and transfer it back. Any chance of doing that? |

I don't know about database hacking, but what you want can be easily done with Calibre. Just import the books into Calibre, change authors so that the author column displays First Name Last Name and the author_sort column Last Name, First Name, connect your Kobo and use the Send to Device icon to send the books from Calibre to Kobo. Now the authors should display correctly.

Considering that OceanOfPDF has been taken down several times for ebook piracy, I tend to agree with Jon about not offering help to the OP. I mean, the OP stated where they obtained the books from so there is no benefit of the doubt to be invoked.
