Apparently the kid's features can be turned off.

EDIT: Maybe they can't be turned off? I don't know what the current status is. Sorry.

Someone on another forum says the kids' features don't really matter as you need to set up an adult account any way. That poster left the kids' features on because he figured he might want to read some of the books provided in Kids+ and it was free for a year. I guess not having ads would be another bonus.

My understanding was the benefit was a free case, no ads and a better warranty.
