KIF: a native infocom interpreter for the kindle
So, I've been hard at work since I got my KDK hack working last week.
Hi, v0.5 is now out - got timed events working. Please see http://adq.livejournal.com/110236.html for details and installation information. Last edited by adq; 11-01-2010 at 07:09 PM. |

Thanks for doing this. I'm a big interactive fiction fan, so I'll definitely be able to put it through its paces. It'll be fun to see if Conway's Life or Tetris work on it.

Oh. My. You are awesome! Can't wait to try it. I hope it's battery friendly (ie, I can walk away from it and not come back to a dead battery).

superb. Nice work.
I was wondering, if it would be possible to create some simple file commander in this way - so It will be possible to copy new font, books, etc without the need of connecting to PC. |

Wow! This is pretty much the best thing ever.
I'm playing Adam Cadre's Varicella now. So far I haven't been able to get any zblorb files to work, even though ZMPP is alleged to support them. But most of the .z[1-8] files seem to work for me. Thanks for doing this! |

This is brilliant. Thanks so much. This sort of thing a prime reason I recently moved to a K3 from my Sony 505!

Hey, thanks all the reports and things; I've not checked zblorbs myself yet; I do know I'd definitely screwed them up a bit in v0.1.
As for a file browser - it would be doable, but you'd need to change the permissions allowed to kindlets - right now you can only read/write to a very few specific directories. |

Game of life says I need a bigger screen to play it; tried hacking the font and it sort of works, but I guess it'll need the timed events as well. GoL would work better with a rotated screen; must see if I can figure out how to control that. |

If you can write to /sys, you could do it the hard way with something like:
echo n > /sys/devices/platform/eink_fb.0/send_fake_rotate Where n is: 0 for Portrait 1 for Portait upside down 2 for Landscape 3 for Landscape upside down Unless there's a 'KDK friendly' way of doing this, of course . Last edited by NiLuJe; 10-15-2010 at 09:34 PM. |

It sounds like I'm doing something wrong for the DX; Curses definitely works on a K3 here, so its not down to some unknown game problem. |
