Feature Request: Keyboard-Only Text Selection and Highlighting (Caret Browsing Mode)

Description:

I would like to request a feature for the Calibre eBook Viewer that allows users to perform text selection, highlighting, copying, and other related actions using only the keyboard. This would be akin to "caret browsing" mode found in some web browsers, where users can move a text cursor through the text using the arrow keys, select text by holding down the Shift key, and trigger highlighting or copying functions through keyboard shortcuts.

Use Case:

This feature would be particularly useful for users who prefer or require keyboard-only navigation for accessibility reasons, or for those who find it more efficient than using a mouse. It would also benefit those who read and annotate extensively and wish to do so without interrupting their reading flow by switching between mouse and keyboard.

Proposed Functionality:

Caret Browsing Mode: A toggleable mode where a text cursor can be placed within the text of the eBook. This cursor would be navigable using arrow keys.

Text Selection: Holding Shift while using the arrow keys would select text, similar to text editors and word processors.

Highlighting: A keyboard shortcut (e.g., Ctrl + H) could be used to highlight selected text.

Copying: Ctrl + C to copy selected text to the clipboard.

Navigation: Additional shortcuts for navigating between pages, chapters, or sections of the book without leaving caret mode.

Exiting Mode: A simple shortcut (e.g., Esc) to exit caret browsing mode.

Why This Feature Matters:

Implementing this feature would significantly improve the accessibility and usability of Calibre's eBook viewer, particularly for users who rely on keyboard navigation. It would also streamline the workflow for users who annotate their reading material frequently, making Calibre a more powerful and user-friendly tool.
