F/OSS Arduino based "The Open Book" e-paper reader
Recently came across this really cool project that already has some working, proof of concept code and hardware. It's called The Open Book with goals of being fairly cheap, using decent off the shelf parts, and based on the Arduino platform which is eminently customizable and hackable.
Definitely not ready for prime time for anybody, however anyone interested in tinkering and is good with UI/UX for e-readers could certainly lend a hand in coding/designing the UI for the device, since right now it doesn't have much of one. https://hackaday.io/project/168761-t...n-book-feather https://github.com/joeycastillo/The-Open-Book |

The M5paper is far better. The 400 x 300 is an abysmal number of pixels. 800 x 600, IMO is a minimum and that is very basic now.
Also while Ardunio is popular and easy to start with the original platform is nothing like this open book. Ardunio shields are a poor HW concept and the platform was designed for a much more basic microcontroller than even the very basic ARM Cortex M0 series. |
