How to update firmware
Hi guys,
1. Could you instruct me how to update firmware (I know where to find RC4 and 800+, but I don't know how to physically proceed: where to copy files, which files I should delete etc). Irex page with update instruction does not exists...I saw 2. Which version whould you recommend? (priority: battery life, then functionality) Many thanks in advice!!! Well, its kinda like this .... The 800/1000 and irex in general are 'dead' ... so try searching the mobiread wiki for digital reader software ... also the 800 and 1000 irex forums ... If you come up with anything that is useful, let me know as the 800 I have is not responding to power on/off reboots (it stalls before starting the "spinning" logo) ...dead battery, changed battery, recharged and discharged .. rinse repeat ... and I did follow the reboot/reload directions on these forums

to update the firmware, put the contents of the zip files on the SD card:
X:\System\update it should have a series of *.bin and *.dat files (like boot.bin, kernel.bin etc) restart the dr800, and it should automatically update... RC4 is the unofficial one, that has a real "turn off device" feature. After 24 hrs it will turn off completely... this means it must do a complete reboot after that, but it will save the battery ************************************************** ************************* Wuala will stop in November 2015 all together... Although I wasn't the one requesting it, I want to thank pauli for posting the firmware files. I just updated my wife's dr800 to rc4 and I am looking forward to the results!

Hi, would that all be the same for a Windows7 pc?
As soon as I connect my IREX it is listed as a connected device. I is also listed as a memorycard, however I cannot look on it. Furthermore, programs like ADE, Calibre and the explorer are blocked. They will work again as soon as I disconnect my IREX. Any idea what I can do to solve this? Should I download this firmware also? |

Hi Tom,
I think you can use the DR800S firmware on the DR800SG. The difference between the devices is the mobile data receiver... but these are not working anymore, right??? Anyways, the change log says the RC4 firmware also fixes "possible crash after disconnecting 3G [DR800SG]", so it should work on the DR800SG too. I haven't tried it because I only have the DR800S. |

FWIW if someone's still reading this, I am now using firmware v2.0rc4 (along 800+) on both DR800 versions (with and without 3G connectivity) and it runs on both without differences other than the annoying 'systray'-type icons of the 3G...

Why do you think you have the old firmware if the info has changed?
