Getting a new reader, with a web browser. HELP!
Hello all
Im planning on getting a new reader, im not calling it an upgrade since i love my PRS-505 and it is still working wonderfully. Id like to get one with a web browser so that i can view basic text forums that i read a lot. I'm looking at the: Pocketbook 602 Pocketbook 603 Pocketbook 902 Pocketbook 903 BeBook Neo im not looking at the Kindle for a stupid principal reason regarding support for epub The main questions i have are related to navigation, since im fairly sure they can display the sites fine. on the 603/903 which have touch screens that use a stylus, how do you move up/down a page? can it only be done via the stylus, or can a button be used? and on the others 602/902/Neo do you have to scroll all the way to the bottom with the virtual mouse pointer to move down the page? Hope someone can answer me as ive watched and read many reviews were this never comes up |

The BeBook Neo has a touchscreen that can be operated with a stylus, in the same way as the PB 603 and 903. You can also use the button, but for browsing using the stylus is more comfortable.

thanks!
Does the button go a page down (like pressing page down on the keyboard on a pc) or does it go down one line at a time? |

A page at a time.
The nice thing about the Neo is that, although it has a touch screen, pretty much everything can also be done with the keys, which is generally more convenient. Pity you're not looking at the Kindle, though; I'd say it would be the best of the lot for your needs. |

May I ask why the epub is so important to you?
If lending from public libraries is not a must or, if you don't have a huge collection of ePub books already, I think Kindle 3 is a nice choice. The Kindle' s browser is really good for being an eink device. You won't be able to see multimedia content but serves very well for basic browsing and basic Internet needs. |

Thanks Harry, you are talking about the Neo right (just so im sure ).
and to both jocampo and Harry regarding epub/not choosing the Kindle. I have mo issues with the devise itself, ive look at many opinions and it seems like a great piece of tech. I have just always been a fan of supporting good standards and helping out the little guys since they usually give their devises a personal touch. also in the case of the pocketbook (maybe the bebook as well) the open platform and community aspect of development warms my heart epub will also be supported by future devises and as you mention i already have all my books in epub because of my PRS-505. i converted them once from lrf and dont want to go through that again |

I would recommend the saumsung galaxy tab. I too have a sony pr 505 which I love but wanted a web browser and something to play movies on so I purchased the tab. It works really well as an ereader I use dropbox to put books on it and it is really easy to use. Sizewise it is not much bigger than the sony reader so that it can be carried around. It can be connected to the computer as well and files transferred that way. I already had a 3g so just use the sim from that in it or wi fi if I am at home or where there is wifi.

I was thinking of getting an Android tablet, but decided against it since I want to be able to read on an eink screen.
I think I'll be going with the BeBook Neo. After getting the information needed here and seeing that it supports custom fonts as well it checks all the boxes :-) |
