FAQ?
Would it be a good idea for us to have a FAQ for new users so that people don't have to sift through all the old posts to find the info they need?

Well I guess that's the reason why there's a wiki on this website.

I know Alex is working on better ways to integrate the Wiki into the forum, but he seems to have a lot on his plate at the moment. For now, it can be accessed via the link at the upper right of each page.
Enjoy! |

That might be helpful. But I think we are hoping to get the best information into the MobileRead wiki.
Here is the Sony Reader section... feel free to begin adding info that you think would be helpful!! Probably an FAQ in the wiki as you suggested would be good. (We also have two early FAQs in the wiki, one of which is from the Sony Reader team in advance of the rollout.) |

Wow... quite a flurry. Once again we can say great minds think alike!
Nathan is right -- better integration is a goal, which will help nourish the wiki. |

Then, once we have a good FAQ, we could post it as a Sticky in "Sony Portable Reader" forum. Or, have a Sticky that links to the FAQ in the wiki. Whichever way that's most appropriate to the site--I don't know what the conventions are. Bob?

I'm not sure that we have conventions, but yes, that's a possibility to have a Sticky in the forum thread.
As there is some site design going on, which will later take a look at integration with the wiki, it's hard to say this early what will be the best way to handle it. But you are exactly right at the target -- we want to collect and make it easy to find the most helpful info, especially for new visitors. As we move forward with changes (eventually), we'll definitely be appreciative of your input as you see how things shape up! |
