If you plan to side-load a lot of books, my experience is that the Kobo software is a lot friendlier.

The Glowlight is a much nicer device hardware wise. The Clara feels... cheap, plastic-y compared to the Glowlight. On the Glowlight the page turn buttons are great, the orange light is slightly better and so is the screen (due to IR vs capacitive touch). But Kobo's software is just better than B&Ns. The Glowlight 3 in particular is buggier with sideloaded books than the Glowlight Plus which runs the same software. But aside from bugs, the Kobo is good about things like displaying the series info from Calibre and the ability to sideload fonts is nice since I prefer Google's Literata Book font. And if you're an Overdrive user, it's a no-brainer. I haven't used it myself, but Rakutan owns Kobo and Overdrive. Both are very nice devices. A Glowlight 3 running Kobo's software would be great. |
