Farnol, Jeffery: My Lady Caprice, LIT v1, 27 February 2010.
Jeffery Farnol [1878–1952]
My Lady Caprice [1907] Later issued as “Chronicles of the Imp” An early romance by Jeffery Farnol, which is very light-hearted. A bloke enlists the aid of his beloved’s nephew, known as “the Imp.” It’s rather as though Richmal Crompton’s “Just William” had wandered into a romance. An extract: “Reginald,” she said, turning toward the Imp, who was still busy with his cap, “it’s nearly tea-time, and—why, whatever have you been doing to yourself?” “For the last half hour,” I interposed, “we have been exchanging our opinions on the sex.” “An’ talking ’bout worms,” added the Imp. “This man is fond of worms, too, Auntie Lisbeth—I like him.” This work is assumed to be in the Life+70 public domain OR the copyright holder has given specific permission for distribution.
