I've "bought" every free book that was offered through Amazon. Problem is -- if anyone were to examine my "reading history" (can anyone say PATRIOT Act?) -- they'd have a very screwy picture of what it is that I like to read. I've already seen this history affect the book recommendations that Amazon presents to me.

And, I think I'm going to pass on this one. Even the "warning" is too steamy for me.

Lately? On pretty much any "modern" rodeo themed book.

Seems to be a big market for gay rodeo and bondage rodeo (gay or not). After all, chaps and ropes ....

I've downloaded all the free Amazon books I've seen listed, but I just couldn't bring myself to order this one.

You know I feel the same way. I read a lot of romance, but not hardcore porn. When I saw this book, I was willing to give it try until I read about the gay sex and now I know I will not read it. It's just not my cup of tea. I'll read anything but I'm not into any type of homosexuality.

I have read books that have explicit sexual scenes in them, but they are the rare exception. The differentiator for me is whether the point of the book is the sex or whether the sex is an adjunct to a good plot. Now this made me think. It's not the homosexuality that's the put-off for me. In fact, if the story were a non-explicit story about two men (or two women) developing a relationship, falling in love, setting up a household, etc. then I certainly might read the book. As I said above, in order to get my attention, the book has to offer a good plot.

I'm just not too interested in the acrobatics and details.

I do find this whole genre a little odd, to be honest. I am in no way prudish, and am open-minded, but my personal reading tastes just don't go in this direction - I don't mean homosexuality, by the way, I mean explicit sex scenes in novels in general.

To be honest, even in "serious" novels they're not often done well. As to why I find it odd, though - well, from a personal point of view, if I want to be entertained and informed, I read a book. If I want to be titillated, I don't pick up a book...let's just say I'm more of a visual person!

In short, it'd take a bit more than a lengthy descritpion of Brett and Rock clambering from their weary appaloosas for a private hoedown (if you follow me) to get me worked up.

Sorry if this is too much info, by the way, I just find this whole subject amusing!
