Alas, my poor Kindle...
I woke up to find the screen cracked, despite its protective sleeve. I strongly suspect that I rolled onto it sometime in the middle of the night. Amazon will replace it for $65 plus shipping. Could be worse, I guess.

Ouch indeed. Not the way I'd want to wake up. I usually keep mine on one of the stands I bought some time back.

Sorry to hear that. A protective sleeve wont protect much, if at all, against sustained pressure, though. If you leave/forget your Kindle in bed then you need a hard cover.

Sorry to hear that, OP. But $65 for a replacement isn't too bad in my opinion. Now be more careful in the future.

Indeed; I have learned my lesson. Perhaps I need to look into an industrial strength steel case. :-) Or simply move it off of the bed before going to sleep! lol...
Thanks, everyone! |

I hope your replacement is here now, or very soon. And might I suggest a full cover, rather than simply a sleeve? Personally, I like the official Amazon cover, with light, but there are other good choices out there. I find the covers much more protective than a simple sleeve.

I'm lucky to not have that happen to me despite getting the melatonin kick a few times and blinking off mid-page.

Oh dear!
I love to read my k3 in bed, and I usually take it out of it's book cover. After this thread I think I will keep it in it's book cover from now on. |

Sorry about your Kindle! That's nice of Amazon to replace it for so cheap.

Is that a regular replacement procedure? Dropped my K2 and it hit the corner. Half the screen is dead (mostly) now. Bought a new one, but I'd repair it and give it to my wife or a friend if possible.
Sad that it works perfectly, but half the screen is unreliable. |
