You can use an ipod touch for emails as long as you have a wi-fi connection. I don't know much about skype so not sure if phone calls via wi-fi are possible. As an accessory you would need headphones with an in-line mic as the touch does not have a mic built in.

I've been using skype on my iPhone. From what I read about the iTouch. You can use it to make calls as long as you have a headset with a mic. You'd need to purchase one. It currently works on wifi with iPhone / iPod Touch 2.0 software

They just announced a Skype app for the iPhone/Touch. The article said it will work for the Touch with a headset/mic.

It appears that Skype may have been pulled from the US App store, most likely because of carrier complaints. Hopefully it is just a temperary error.

Damn carriers, they'll do anything to maintain market share. Truth is the Internet and Internet call services like Skype will soon blow them away.
In this case, the carriers have a quiet word to Apple and get these kinds of apps removed with some legal threat no doubt. |

If your Iphone is capable of connecting to the internet, then I guess you wont have to worry using Skype in your Iphone. I think you need to have some value or amount in your account so that you can use it fully well.
You can search in skype of google for "using Skype in your Phone" or Skype in Phone" |

If you have a 1st gen iPod Touch then all you can do with Skype is send messages. You cannot talk. The 2nd Gen iPod Touch does support a microphone via the headphone input.
